How much does Canva Pro cost, and what is free?

As of 11 October 2026. Canva's basic version is free. If you want premium templates, the background remover, brand kits and more AI usage, you need Canva Pro, or Canva Business for teams.

For monthly plans, the cost for 12 months adds up twelve monthly payments; you are charged monthly. Yearly prices are paid for twelve months at once.

Specific monthly and yearly offers in the local iOS App Store. Pro covers one person; Business is priced per person. Yearly prices are totals for twelve months.

Compare the yearly total with twelve monthly payments through the same purchase channel. An advertised monthly average with yearly billing is normally not charged monthly. Also check whether the Business price is per person.

Pro or Business: what is the difference?

According to Canva, a Canva Pro subscription can only be used by one person. Canva Business is designed for individuals and teams who need more, is billed per person and adds collaboration and brand management features. The monthly AI allowance is larger too: Canva lists up to 200 premium or 20 ultra AI uses per month for Pro and up to 400 premium or 40 ultra uses for Business; tools share the applicable allowance. The former Canva Teams plan is no longer available for new subscriptions. If several people regularly work on designs together, Business is the plan intended for that.

Important for team workspaces: according to Canva, designs created in a team belong to that workspace. Anyone removed from the team loses access to the plan and to those designs.

When is Canva free?

• Canva Free: free on a permanent basis, with basic features and free templates.
• Canva Education: according to Canva, free for primary and secondary school teachers, their students and eligible schools. Teachers verify their status with Canva; students need an invitation from their teacher.
• Canva for Nonprofits: according to Canva, registered nonprofit organisations get Pro features plus team features free of charge for up to 50 people. Canva checks eligibility first.
• Free trial: Canva offers a free trial of Pro or Business. According to Canva, it is available once per account and once per payment method. During the trial, Canva says the AI allowance is the same as Canva Free. The paid subscription then starts automatically unless you cancel first; Canva sends an email reminder before the trial ends.

Canva Education does not cover university students. Some universities provide Canva through Canva Campus; ask your university whether it takes part.

Cancelling or pausing Canva Pro

If you subscribed in a browser, cancel in your Canva settings in the billing and plans section. Subscriptions billed through Apple's App Store or Google Play are cancelled there; according to Canva, this is not possible in the Canva app itself. Instead of cancelling, you can pause a Pro or Business subscription for up to three months, according to Canva.

After cancelling, Pro features remain available until the end of the paid period. The account then becomes a Free plan, and Pro elements in your designs appear with watermarks until a paid plan is active again.
